Gait Motion Fixture

The gait motion test fixture combines axial strain on a stent with bending and twisting.  These conditions occur in peripheral stenting locations such as the superficial femoral, saphenous, and popliteal arteries. 

The gait motion fixture was designed by MDT and can be integrated with a standard axial torsion test system.  This fatigue test fixture converts the linear/rotary motion of the test instrument into a simulated gait motion.  The fixture first applies tension to 16 devices and then rotates and bends them simultaneously.  The process is then reversed and the cycle repeated to meet customer requirements.  A 10 million cycle test (10 years post-implantation) can be completed in less than 2 months.

A wide range of strain rotation, and bending inputs can be applied and adapted to the customer's test plan.
